The ritual
The Sunday champi
Warm a little
Rest the bottle in warm water for two minutes.
Massage the scalp
A few drops at a time, fingertips in small circles. Then the lengths.
Wait, then wash
At least 30 minutes, or overnight. Wash with a mild shampoo.
What's inside, and why
Named for the root
Muladhara is the root chakra in yoga. This oil is for the roots, so the name stuck.
Cold-pressed coconut oil
The champi oil most of us grew up with.
Sweet almond oil
Lighter than coconut. Helps the oil spread and soften.
Vetiver (khus)
The cooling root from khus curtains and sherbet. Calms a hot, itchy scalp.
Rosemary
The herb the internet rediscovered. We use it for the scalp.
Lavender
Calming, and it makes the oil smell good.
